Whether you’re a local or a visitor, walking is an underrated way to burn calories while clearing the mind. The best part, is you get to take in the picturesque sights that make this town as enchanting as it it. We’re starting to see shifts in the fitness world that appreciate the power of low impact fitness, and while cycling and running have their advantages, we believe in the benefits of a great power walk. Urban Walk
If you’ve looked up things to do in Santa Fe, you may know Canyon Road holds the most galleries per capita in the entire U.S.A.. This picturesque stretch of land is nestled on a windy road with pockets of neighborhoods that boast adobe architecture and charm. A walk up the road and back will greet you with so much color and creativity that you can’t help but to become inspired. It also happens to be a 2 mile walk to BODY, making it the perfect compliment of cardio to both explore and warm you up for class. Nature Walk
Another favorite of our founder Lori, is hiking the Atalaya Mountain Trail. While this stretches your legs longer than a cheeky urban walk, it’s a must for nature lovers in Santa Fe to take in the gorgeous high desert scenery. Begin at the Saint Johns trail head for winding hills and gorgeous high desert scenery surrounded by pines and depending on the season, gorgeous wildflowers.
Walking improves our cardiovascular health and can reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and more. We’ve spoken about this before, but we believe in the sustainability of a low-impact workout. Take it from us, you can still get in amazing shape without sprinting and doing HIIT exercises.
