Our Santa Fe Top 5

We might be Santa Fe’s destination for healthy living, but there is so much to do in Santa Fe that we can’t keep to ourselves. BODY owner and founder, Lori, has lived in Santa Fe for 40+ years and is the antithesis of gatekeeping. She took us around town to show her top 5 iconic spots in Santa Fe she loves supporting as a local. Whether you’re visiting Santa Fe, new in town, or a local — take in this list of Santa Fe institutions for the next time you fancy a day around the city.

Santa Fe Farmer’s Market

Santa Fe is an energy vortex that enriches every part of the city. People say there’s something in the air, but we believe there’s something in the soil. At our farm-to-table cafe, we source most of the produce we don’t grow from our tower gardens, from the amazing farmers at the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market. This is the perfect place to get locally grown gems from the state, like New Mexican chiles, Chimayo Chile, and more.

La Choza

This spot is a legendary restaurant in Santa Fe serving New Mexican fare. The red and green Chile is award winning and a must for your first-time visit. This family-owned restaurant has been a favorite of locals since 1983, making the delicious food of the Southwest a tradition. Lori has been visiting this restaurant for years and can confirm the plant-based options are satisfying and delicious!

Nüart Gallery

You may have heard us go on about Canyon Road as it boasts the most galleries per capita in the United States. What we are new to share, is Lori’s favorite of them all, Nüart Gallery. If you’re a lover of contemporary fine art, this is the spot for you. The gallery was established at the beginning of the 21st century, Nüart Gallery has introduced many of their artists to the U.S. market for the first time. Take a step into this gallery-converted abode home for a wonderland of artistic imagination.

La Fonda

This hotel is the oldest hotel corner in America, sitting on the site of the town’s first inn when the city was founded in 1607. La Fonda’s interior boasts a 25-foot cathedral ceiling, stained glass skylights, and a 25 foot cathedral ceiling. The hotel is a Santa Fe must-see and is a charming happening for food, drinks, and dancing. The La Plazuela restaurant is inside the hotel terrace with beautiful skylights, a fountain, and historic wall paintings.

Savory Spice Shop

Lori loves supporting this spice shop on Galisteo when it comes to stocking up on fresh spices for the BODY Cafe. The shop has bulk spices from all over the world, providing an eco-friendly alternative to buying and repurchasing spice bottles. Whether you’re a local or staying at an airbnb, stock up as little or as much in spices as you’d like, including all the Chile your heart desires!

This is just scratching the surface when it comes to hidden gems in Santa Fe. We encourage wander lust, but until then, Lori has a list of nature spots we’re so excited to share with you soon!
