A Resolution to Show Up As Your Best Self

For many, the dawning of a new year can have a magnetic, optimistic effect on one’s mind. For others, it can be a challenging, overwhelming period. The weight resolutions carry is all about perspective; it can be positive and motivating, or it can feel like an immense amount of pressure. What if rather than a list of resolutions, you resolve to be the best version of yourself? What creates your best self could look different every day. One morning it could be to meditate and go to pilates, the other it could mean to eat more plants or get a massage. When you look and feel your best you can show up in the world with radiance and that is just what BODY aims to promote.

‘Quitters Day’ is the second Friday in January when 80% of people give up on their resolutions. Some popular New Year resolutions include creating daily routines, eating healthier, and exercising more. When it comes to eating healthier and exercising more, people usually go from 0 to 100, unable to maintain the consistency of two new additions to their routine. So they burn out, give up, and feel defeated. The expectation and pressure of becoming a new you on January 1st isn’t always sustainable. A stronger, healthier, and more abundant you is completely attainable.

Exercising more: Low-impact fitness is an optimum way to approach the new year. These modalities allow the body to strengthen while being supportive and easy on the joints. Pilates works on the body's micro muscles, which is why people are so enthusiastic about the results they see after only a week or two of beginning classes. With yoga, you find a class with mindful movement, from gentle postures to advanced strength and balancing poses that challenge the mind and body.  It’s such an incredible option to transition into a more mindful year. Finally, Nia is for those who love to move their bodies in ways that release energy and feel creative. Nia infuses martial arts with yoga and dance for an exciting workout that gets the heart rate going while being fun for all!

Eating Healthier: It may be tempting to start a diet in the new year, but if there’s anything we’ve learned over time, it is that diets are fads and don’t stick. Lifestyle choices do however have a better chance of impacting your life positively. At BODY Cafe, all our produce is directly from Santa Fe farmers or grown in-house and entirely plant-based. Our menu is meant to inspire guests to taste for themselves how flavorful plant-based eating can be while being clean and light. Even by adding a few plant-based meals into your routine during the week, you can make an impact on your overall well-being.

Daily routines: Routines are a popular resolution because they aim to structure life by time-blocking different actions to reach your goals. For instance, waking up at 5 AM to meditate, journal, go to the gym and eat a healthy breakfast all before work. For someone who is accustomed to waking at 8 AM every day, this jump may be too much. Rather, implement a little something every day and take breaks when needed to reduce the chances of burnout.
