ART OPENING
Taos painters Kimberly Webber and K.C. Tebbutt present LIGHT BEING; an exhibition featuring the enhanced qualities of color and sensibilities provided by the effulgent light of Northern New Mexico. Often in the world of the unseen there are patterns, archetypes and forms that are familiar in abstract contemporary art. Both painters are working with these underlying organic abstraction patterns in their work. The artists have been collaborating for many years and are lineage holders of Lin Chien Shih, Jack Wise and the ancient rice paper technique of painting from antiquity. The original paintings are created with dozens of layers of pure powdered earth and mineral pigments, sheer layers of encaustic and multiple glazes of resin and oil. The LIGHT BEING exhibition consists primarily of “Artist Proof” museum prints of archetypes, the mandala and elements. The canvas and paper museum print format represents the artists’ efforts to make the work accessible to a larger audience.
The opening will include sips & treats as well as music by DJ Christina Swilley.
